Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Friday, July 16, 2004 at the Wadley’s Funeral Chapel under the direction of Wadley’s Funeral Service with Reverend Carroll Martin and Reverend Rick Schutlz officiating. Her 7 children will serve as casket bearers. Honorary bearers include her nephews, Randy Adams, Randy Green, Kenneth Green and Billy Green, and a niece, Debbie Russell. Peggy was born October 19, 1936 to Earnie A. and Vina Ideal (Hartley) Adams in Wilburton, Oklahoma. She graduated from Wilburton High School in 1954, and attended Eastern Oklahoma State College, earning her Associate of Science in Home Economics degree in 1956. June 9, 1956, Peggy Adams and James Wadley were united in marriage in Wilburton, Oklahoma. Over the years, Peggy has worked for many companies including the Wilburton State Bank, First State Bank of Lancaster, Texas, Wynnewood State Bank of Dallas, Texas, Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton, Oklahoma, McAlester General Hospital in McAlester, Oklahoma, and locally at Purcell Municipal Hospital, Lexington A&R Center and the McClain County Election Board. In the 1960’s Peggy and James Wadley founded Wadley’s Ambulance Service, opening their offices in McAlester, Oklahoma. In addition to McAlester, they opened services in Quinton, Ada and Durant before moving to Purcell in 1974. In the 1980’s they opened a service in Noble and also re-opened their McAlester service. Peggy has been a Nationally Registered Emergency Technician since 1972 when Oklahoma started certifying through the National Registry. She was in one of the first two EMT classes taught in Oklahoma, and is one of the first 50 to be licensed in this state. In June 1991, Peggy and James purchased property in Purcell and opened Wadley’s Funeral Service. Feeling like it was time to retire from the Ambulance business, in 1994 they backed out and allowed their children to take over. In April 1996, Peggy and James assisted their son, David, in the purchase of Wadley Care Center. Peggy was of the Assembly of God faith. She has had many interests over the years which include, reading, crochet, hand work, puzzles, cooking, being with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and spending time with friends as well as helping people in need. She never met a stranger. Peggy is preceeded in death by her parents, Earnie and Vina Adams, her brother Ronnie Adams, and a special aunt Clara Lee. Survivors include her husband James Wadley of Purcell, (6) sons; Loyd Wadley and wife Karen, David Wadley and wife Lavona of McAlester, Oklahoma, Roger Wadley and wife Amy of Wilburton, Oklahoma, Charles Wadley and wife Rhonda, Jackie Wadley and wife Cori, and Adam Wadley, all of Purcell, Oklahoma, (1) daughter; Janie Wadley of Purcell, Oklahoma, (1) adopted daughter, Edna Dugger and husband Gary of Houston, Texas, (1) Sister- in-Law; Donnabell Adams of Wilburton, Oklahoma, (12) grandchildren; Clint Wadley and wife Kristen, and Jason Wadley of McAlester, Oklahoma, Jeff Wadley, Michael Wadley, Alicia Conley and husband Benton, Stephanie Helton and husband Tony, Meagan Russell and fiance Michael Dyer, CJ Wadley, and Cydnie Wadley, all of Purcell, Tiffany, Tori and Tarryn Wadley of Wilburton, Oklahoma, (4) great grandchildren; Logan Helton, Tyler Conley, Peirce Wadley, Paige Conley and many nieces, nephews, other family members whom will miss her greatly.
