All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== ::Byars Cemetery--Byars OK Norman Transcript 18 Sep 2003 Marilyn Williams Marilyn Williams, 55, of Byars died Monday, Sept. 15, following an automobile accident. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Purcell with the Revs. Steve Nation, Kevin Driskill and Leroy Looper officiating. Burial will be at Byars Cemetery. Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell is handling arrangements. Mrs. Williams was born Jan. 4, 1948, in Drumright, the fourth of six children born to Junior Henry and Gladys Mae Cargill Towers. She grew up in south Oklahoma City. She graduated from Southeast High School in 1966. She married Theodore Leon Williams Sr. March 20, 1966, in Del City. She worked for Western Electric in the late 1960s when she lived in Oklahoma City. Mrs. Williams and her husband lived in the Oklahoma City area until they moved to Newalla in 1985. They moved to Byars in 1989. Mrs. Williams was a meter reader for OEC and was a department manager for Wal-Mart in the 1990s. She enjoyed genealogy and was the president of the McClain County Historical Society in Purcell the past several years. She was a member of the Byars Garden Club and was a volunteer for Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) in McClain and Cleveland counties for many years. She was active with Byars Baptist Church where she taught the preteen Sunday school class. Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her father, Junior Towers; brother, Butch Towers; and sister, Roberta Towers. Mrs. Williams is survived by her husband, Ted Williams of the home; mother, Gladys Towers of Byars; son, Ted Williams Jr. and wife, Angela, of Mounds; daughter, Sherri McWilliams and husband, Rusty, of Lexington; brother, James Towers and wife, Bellann, of Oklahoma City; sisters, Connie Towers of Lexington and Marie Rice of Oklahoma City; grandchildren, Brandon Williams, Amanda Lackey and Bailey Rice; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Bearers will be Matthew Shephard, Kevin Osmun, Troy Madden, Joe Cowan, Keith Harrington and Jack Lucy. Honorary bearers will be the Historical Society of Purcell and the Norman Wal-Mart Store No. 2734.
