JOHN ALLEN KILLED SUNDAY -- ON HIGHWAY BY CAR DRIVEN BY OTIS COLLINS, 
(col), A SAW MILL HAND OF WRIGHT CITY.

Last Sunday between 12:00 and 1:00, John Allen, living at Garvin, was 
run over and killed by Otis Collins, a saw mill hand of Wright City.  
The boy was chasing a pet squirrel across the highway and did not see 
the car until it was in a few feet of him.  His body was badly mashed 
and bones broken. He was thrown some twenty feet from the place where 
the car struck him and was killed instantly.

The young man was about 19 or 20 years old and had deformed feet.  
Those who saw the accident, which was some ten or twelve people, all 
differ as to how it happened.  Some say the negro was running at a 
high speed.  The negro was placed in jail and will have a preliminary 
trial in a few days.
