His wife was buried Sunday afternoon, but evidence led to the belief she had been murdered. Sheriff Stewart and a deputy visited the home of the Choctaw early Sunday morning and viewed the body of the Indian's wife. She had bruises on her face, arms, legs, and back, that were said to have been made with an ax handle in the hands of her husband. The attending physician, at the birth of her child several weeks ago, said she had tuberculosis.
