All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Broken Bow Cemetery--Broken Bow OK McCurtain County Local Newspaper: April 9, 1931 JOHN BAKER COMMITTED SUICIDE Monday morning about 8:30 o'clock the citizens of Broken Bow were shocked as the sad news was passed around that John Baker, aged 80, had committed suicide by shooting himself through the heart with a 45 caliber pistol. Mr. Baker was never married and had been making his home with his brother,Joe Baker, for the past several months, at which place he ended his life. The infirmaties of old age is said to be the cause of Mr. Baker taking this means of ending his worldly troubles. The deceased is survived by three brothers and two sisters, R.C. and Joe Baker, of Broken Bow, and C.A. Baker; Mrs. Lizzie L. Bran, Kansas City, Mo.; Mrs. Clara Finley, Fort Worth, Texas. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the home of Joe Baker, by Rev. A.R. Luton, pastor of the First Methodist Church. Interment was made in the Broken Bow cemetery.
