Baker, 84, of Battiest, Oklahoma passed away on Sunday, September 26, 1999 in Broken Bow, Oklahoma. He was born on October 14, 1914, in Battiest, Oklahoma. Walter Baker had lived in McCurtain County all of his life. He was a member of Bethel Hill Methodist Church in Battiest. He was preceded in death by his father, Robinson Baker, his mother, Enetti Baker; two brothers, James Baker and Daniel Baker; two sisters, Mary Ann Baker and Gladys Wade. Survivors include four brothers and three sisters-in-law: Anderson and Evelyn Baker of Golden, Oklahoma, Floyd Baker of Battiest, Aaron and Juanita Baker of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Owen and Agnes Baker of El Paso, Texas; a sister, Edith Gem of Long Beach, California, and many nieces and nephews. He was dearly loved by his family and he will be missed as will his cheerful smile and wonderful sense of humor.
