Benton, Luke

Luke Benton, 79, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2005, at an Arlington 
hospital.

Funeral: 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Colbert, the 
Rev. Ronnie Harris officiating. Burial: to follow in Garden of Memory 
Cemetery, Colbert, Okla.

Luke was born Aug. 30, 1925, in Eagletown, Okla., to A.O. and Sara 
McCullough Benton. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War 
II. He married Marjorie Harville on March 23, 1951, in Durant, Okla. 
He worked as a school teacher in Achille, Okla., and Whitesboro, 
Okla., before retiring.

Survivors: His wife of 54 years, Marjorie Benton of Arlington; his 
daughters, Sherry Marie Benton of Grand Prairie and Rebecca Sue 
McKnight of Arlington; and grandchildren, Amy Benton and Dustin D. 
McKnight.
