All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Greenlawn Memorial Park--Bakersfield CA The Bakersfield Californian 17 April 2004 RUBY BILLINGS Services: Tues., April 20, 2 p.m. A memorial service will be held for Ruby Billings at Central Baptist Church, 203 S. H Street, Bakersfield, CA, at 2:00 p.m. on April 20, 2004. Dan Wilkerson will officiate. Ruby passed away peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her family on April 16, 2004. Ruby was born in Idabel, Oklahoma, on February 12, 1916. She had resided in Bakersfield since 1942. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walker Billings. She leaves behind sons, Kenneth Billings and wife, Bonnie of Atascadero, James Billings and wife, Pat of Bakersfield; daughter, Wanda Swisher and husband, Joel. Ruby's love's were her seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Ruby was a devoted Christian lady who loved the Lord. She was such an example to all who came in contact with her. She was a member of Central Baptist Church for 45 years, where she served as church hostess and Sunday School teacher. She loved to bake and always had cookies and pies for family and friends. She enjoyed spending time at her grandchildren and great grandchldren's sporting events or with her son, James, or spending a relaxing week at her son, Ken's home in the mountains near Atascadero. We will miss her, but what wonderful memories we all have of her. These memories will endure until we once again meet her in our eternal home. The family wishes to thank Dr. Baker, Dr. Sarup Bhangoo and Glenwood Gardens. A special thanks to Emma Kearney of Hoffman Hospice for the loving care and friendship the last few weeks of Ruby's life. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Central Baptist Church, 203 S. H Street, Bakersfield, CA 93304, in Ruby's name. Viewing will be at Greenlawn Mortuary, 3700 River Blvd., Monday, April 19, 10:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. A private graveside service will be held.
