Claborn Sr. Graveside service with military honors for Alvie H. Claborn Sr., 84, Lawton, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Sterling Cemetery with Richard Mayer, pastor, officiating. Mr. Claborn died Friday, Jan. 25, 2003, in Lawton. Arrangements are by Whinery-Huddleston Funeral Service. He was born Dec. 16, 1918, in Idabel to Elizabeth and Albert Claborn. He married Marguerite Lucas Claborn on Aug. 31, 1973, in Post, Texas. He retired from the U.S. Army as a sergeant first class after 23 years of service. During that time, he served in Alaska, Korea and Germany. He was also a World War II veteran, having served in the South Pacific. He was a member of Sterling United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons: Alvie H. Claborn Jr. and his wife, Barbara, Chattanooga; and Rick Claborn and his wife, Laurie, Faxon; three daughters: Elizabeth Gilpen and her husband John, Union City; Elon Weeks and her husband Ed, Colorado Springs, Colo.; and Renay Bryan and her husband Dale, Chattanooga; a sister, Lue Barnes, Soper; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
