Crosby was born Dec. 16, 1913 in Broken Bow to Ernest and Lola Crosby. He father was a longtime train master for Dierks Lumber & Coal Company. Crosby was a graduate of Wright City High School and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Wright City, where he served as chairman of the board for many years. A rancher, civic leader and rodeo producer for many years at leading rodeos throughout the Southwest, Chester was a Gold Card member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (P.R.C.A). After his retirement he served as field manager for Production Credit Association. He was a longtime member of the McCurtain County Excise Board, McCurtain Fair Board; a member of the Masonic Lodge and was one of the founders of the Wright City State Bank. In recent years he had retired to his ranch north of Wright City.
