Miss Dyer was the daughter of former representative James Dyer and his wife and in their legislative duties Miss Lillian was known and admired in Oklahoma City, as she was whereever she was known. Highly educated, especially talented in music and cultured to an extra ordinary degree, Miss Dyer made friends with all who met her and it is exactly true to say that to know her was to love her. She spent the winter in the home of Dr. and Mrs. A. G. Emerson at Bradford and came with them to (Bald Knob?) when they located here about March 1st. She left a host of friends in Bradford and Searcy and was shown by the countless beautiful flowers showered on her during her life and at its close. "Her friends cannot subdue their sorrow sufficiently to pay her the tribute she deserves, but are comforted by the words of the poet that to them seem reassuring and are actually true. And we will not say that she is dead, She is just away." --------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to McCurtain Archives http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/mccurtain/mccurtai.htm
