Fowler Newspaper: McCurtain Gazette, Idabel, Oklahoma Dated: April 18, 1935 Mr. W. M. Fowler of Millerton, Okla., was called away by death, April 1. This coming May 4th he would have been sixty-six years old. He is survived by his third wife and nine own children and three step- children, also two brothers and twenty four grand children and a host of other relatives and friends. Three sons, Rufus, Oscar, and H. L., all of Millerton, and six daughters, Beaulah Essary, Hollis; Mattie Kellum, of Texas; Bell Stafford, Garvin; Gertie Sharp, Fort Towson; Betty Strickland, Millerton; and Maude Henthorne, Valliant. His two brothers are Mears and Dave Fowler of Western Oklahoma. His children's mother was Mary Brannon. He had one brother-in-law present at the funeral, Asberry Brannon of Alikchi. He had spent the majority of his life at Millerton. His funeral services were held in the old Rock Church at Wheelock with Coffey Funeral Home in charge. The songs sang were "When We Gather With the Saints at the River" and "Asleep in Jesus".
