Memorial services were held at Watonga, Okla., Friday, Jan. 14, with her grandson, the Rev. David Swann, officiating. Arrangements were by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis and Wilkinson Mortuary of Watonga, Okla. Mrs. France was born in Beirne, Ark. She spent her childhood in Broken Bow, Okla. Her family later moved to Blaine County. She had been living in Clovis since 1994. She married Jesse France in 1929 in Blaine County. They were involved in the ranching and farming business in Watonga. Her husband died in 1964. A daughter, Barbara Fetters, died in 1987. Survivors include a son, John France of Watonga; a daughter, Shirley Swann of Clovis; two brothers, Carl Compton of Watonga and Bryan Compton of Stillwater, Okla.; six sisters, Thelma Gungoll of Enid, Okla., Carman Robbins of San Marcos, Texas, Kathryn Cassey of Bartlesville, Okla., and Marie Dickson, Sherrill Smith, and Margaret Benway, all of Watonga; eight grandchildren; 21 greatgrandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
