Hampton Oct. 31, 1926 - June 16, 2006 Resident of Oakley Hamp Hampton peacefully passed from this life on Friday. Born in Battiest, Oklahoma, he was the youngest of 13 children. He joined the Navy in 1943 and served in WWII. He came to Antioch in 1947 where he worked for Glass Containers. In 1960 he started his own business, HLH Trucking Co., which he owned and operated successfully until 1986. He later retired from Sentinel Transportation. Hamp was an avid outdoor sportsman. He loved hunting, fishing, boating, diving for abalone and piloting his own plane. One of his favorite pastimes was harassing his loved ones. He is survived by his wife, Chris Hampton; Mother of his children, Jeanne Hampton; sons, Larry Hampton & Mike Hampton; daughters, Patty Pastor & Wendy McCraney; Grandchildren, Nikki Sanchez, Jeff Hampton, Melinda Sanchez, April Nash, Christopher McEvoy, Jr., Johnny McCraney, Jr., Anthony Hampton, Megan McCraney, Jordan Hampton, Michaela McCraney & Devin Terry; and his beloved dogs, TJ & Queenie. He will always be remembered for his sick humor and good heart. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 24 at 11 a.m., at the Brentwood Funeral Home, 839 First St., Brentwood.
