E. Harkey of Holly Creek Funeral held at Antlers Sunday. McCurtain Gazette Idabel, Oklahoma September 17, 1931 Joe Harkey, age 59 years, prominent citizen of Corinne, near Antlers, died at his home there Saturday night following a short illness. High blood pressure was given as the immediate cause of his death. The announcement was made from Antlers that he worked in the harvest fields until noon Saturday and was in his usual good health until stricken late in the afternoon. Funeral services were held at Antlers Sunday afternoon, being attended by a large crowd of friends and relatives. Mr. Harkey, who had resided at Corinne the last twenty years, was well known in McCurtain county. He was a brother of L. E. Harkey of Holly Creek. (community near Broken Bow) He is also survived by four other brothers, Frank C. Harkey, Maud, Texas; Harry Harkey, of Bryans Mill, Texas; Attorney M. L. Harkey, Crystal City, Texas, and Claude Harkey, chaplain of the Army Station in San Antonio, Texas.
