All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Waston Memorial Cemetery--Oak Hill OK M&M Everlasting Memorial Wendell Cyle Harkey, local business man, passed away Monday, June 14, 2004, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Wendell is survived by his wife of 35 years, Ellen Harkey of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Gray and Rebecca Harkey; two daughters and sons-in-law, Misty and Jerry Stafford and Brandy and Sherman Hickerson; eight grandchildren; Cyla, Carlin and Cutler Stafford, Ty and Sloan Hickerson, Kaitlyn, Madison and Konner Harkey, all of Broken Bow. An army veteran, Wendell served as a Sgt. E-5 in Vietnam. He received the Purple Heart for wounds received in action; the Bronze Star for meritorious achievement in ground operations against hostile forces and The Air Medal for meritorious achievement while participating in aerial flight and served with distinction as one of the original 'Blue Ghosts' with the 8th Cavalry, F Troop. Wendell attended the Holly Creek Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and song leader. Also surviving Wendell are his mother, Annie Lee Harkey; two brothers, Lee Harkey and Norris with wife Glenda Harkey of Broken Bow; one sister, Ivadell and husband Lyndon Plemmons of Battiest; two sisters-in-law and husbands, Florence and Marcus Huddleston and Janie and Paul West; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
