All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Holly Creek Cemetery--Holly Creek OK Obituary: Thursday, September 6, 2007; McCurtain Daily Gazette, Idabel, Okla. pg. 2 IRONS RITES SET SATURDAY Nancy Irons, age 85, of Bakersfield, Calif., passed away after a short illness on Sept. 4, 2007. She was born in Broken Bow on July 18, 1922, the daughter of Marvin and Emma Harkey. Her childhood was spent helping her parents on their farm in Broken Bow. She spent a brief stint as a welder in the San Francisco shipping yards during World War II, returning to Oklahoma where she married her husband, Walter Irons, Deputy-Sheriff (then later sheriff during the 1950's) in 1945. The two of them, along with their daughters, moved to California in the 1950's. Nancy spent the last 20 years prior to her retirement as a beautician. During her retirement years, she enjoyed the love of her family especially her six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Irons; parents; three brothers, Kyle, Clement and Irwin, sister, Ivadel Harkey (Jennings). She is survived by her daughters, Shirley Smith and husband, Thomas of Squim, Wash.., Marcia Fulkerson and husband, David of Bakersfield, Calif., and Doris Greer and husband, Calvin of Blossom, Texas. She is loved and will be missed greatly by all. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007, at the Conley-White Chapel, Broken Bow with Mike Raines officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, 2007.
