Obituary: Will Irons

Newspaper: McCurtain Gazette, Idabel, McCurtain Co., Oklahoma

Dated:  Wednesday, July 27, 1949.         

=Rites are Held for Will Irons=    

Will Irons, 79, Idabel, pioneer county resident, died at his home at 
8:15 a.m. Saturday.    

Born in Red River County, Texas, he had resided in McCurtain County 
more than 50 years, residing at Valliant, Cisco and Idabel. He was a 
retired farmer.     

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m.  Monday at Forest Hill Church 
with Rev. Troy Mays officiating. A Quartet of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Davis, 
Burl Mays and Elton Powell, accompanied by Miss Wilma Hunt, sang, 
"Heaven",  "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "Precious Memories".     

Burial was in Forest Hill Cemetery under direction of Coffey funeral 
home. Bearers were Robert Ives, Tom Caldwell, Harrison Mooney, 
Charlie Hill, Jordan McLeod, and C. H. Roan.     

The court house was closed Monday  afternoon for the services.     

Survivors  are his widow; five daughters, Mrs. W. C. Ray, 
Farmersville, Calif.; Mrs. E. L. Baker and Mrs. Emma Wilds, both of 
Valliant, and Misses Betty Lou and Nancy Ruth Irons, both of Idabel; 
four sons,   Roy Irons, Modesto, Calif.; Gus Irons, Cisco, and Walter 
and James Irons, Idabel; and 20 grandchildren.
