All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Powers Cemetery--Powers OR Johnson, Larry "Gene" May 3, 1947 - Nov. 16, 2006 Funeral services for Larry "Gene" Johnson, 59, of Powers, will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 21, at the New Beginnings Church, 518 N.E. Nash St., in Roseburg. Pastors Randy Scroggins and Richard Burson will officiate. Private interment will be at the Powers Cemetery. Gene was born May 3, 1947, in Smithville, Okla., the son of Edd and Rosey Josephine (Moore) Johnson. He died Nov. 16, 2006, in Eugene. His family moved west to California when Gene was a baby, and later settled in Oregon. Gene was raised and educated in Douglas County. He loved the outdoors and had worked as a logger. He also had owned and operated a fishing boat out of Charleston. Gene knew the woods and was a self-employed mushroom and bear grass harvester. He also loved hunting and fishing. Gene cared about people and served his community by helping those in need. He moved to Powers in 1998. Gene was one of the toughest guys anyone could ever meet. He is survived by his partner, Rhonda Kent of Powers; his daughters, Faith Dimmick and her husband, Ed, of Roseburg, Shawn Scheler and her husband, Dennis, of Roseburg, and Heather Johnson and her partner, Tony Baldwin, of Powers; brothers and sisters, Susan Ziebarth and her husband, Herman, of Roseburg, Josie Burson and her husband, Pastor Richard of Madras, Bertie Anderson of Dillard, Marty Johnson and his wife, Debbie, of Roseburg, Victor Johnson and his wife, Tanya of Eugene, and Phillip Johnson and his wife, Tina, of Medford; six grandchildren, Brandon Dimmick and his, wife Nikki, Brandy Justice and her husband, Aaron, Nichole Plummer and her husband, Ed, and Jessica, Kelbie and Nikkolas Culbertson; two great-grandchildren, Madison and Ashton Plummer; numerous nieces and nephews; his former wife, Donna Pulver; and Michael Culbertson, who was like a son. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Sherry Barnes-Johnson; and friend, Amos. Arrangements are under the direction of Taylor's Family Chapel in Winston, (541) 678-6983.
