McCurtain County Local Newspaper: February 6, 1930

SELDON JONES DIED SUDDENLY FRIDAY

Seldon Jones, a full-blood Choctaw Indian, 24 years old and a 
resident of this city, fell dead on Main street near the Standard 
Tailor Shop last Friday morning at 11:00.  Dr. N.L. Barker, local 
physician was called and after examination pronounced the cause of 
his death heart failure.  The body was removed to his home on Lukfata 
street, and Saturday was taken to the Goodwater cemetery east of town 
for burial. 

Jones possessed rich oil holdings and was considered one of the 
wealthiest Indians of the county.

He is survived by his wife, Rosie Jones, and small child.

Seldon had many friends in the county who regret his untimely death, 
and sympathise with his wife and family.
