All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Oceanview Cemetery--Eureka CA Cecil Jackson Mangrum May 17, 1923 - November 29, 2006 Cecil Mangrum was born on May 17th, 1923, in Broken Bow, Oklahoma, the first child of Andrew and Gertrude Mangrum. In the 1940's, he migrated to California. He was able to proudly serve his country in WWII in the Army. He retired from The Pacific Lumber Company in 1985 after 29 years of employment. He married the love of his life, Lois Mangrum, on August 25, 1943. They were married 36 years. They started their family in South Fork, CA, and after the 1964 flood, they moved their family to Redcrest, CA. Together they raised their six children, Dewey, Kendall, Gary, Patricia, Cindy and Terri. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lois in 1977; his first born son, Dewey in 1968; second born son, Kendall in May 2006; grandson, Cory in 1992; and daughter-in-law, Patricia in 1998. Two brothers also preceded him, Herbert Mangrum and Billy Joe Mangrum. (Note: Also preceded in death by a brother, Carl) Cecil is survived by his son, three daughters and their spouses Gary & Judy Mangrum of Granite Bay, Patricia & Chris Christiansen of Exeter, Cindy & Jan Stout of Windsor, & Terri & Reid Fisher of Fortuna. His grandchildren, Kenny Mangrum of Gonzales, LA, David Mangrum of Gonzales, LA, LaDonna Jones of Visalia, CA, LeAnne McCulley of Reno, NV, Mickey Mangrum of Ferndale, CA, Jessica Mangrum of Sacramento, CA, Janelle Mangrum of Colorado, Reggie Christiansen of Brookings South Dakota, Lars Christiansen of Exeter, CA, Rhett Christiansen of Monterey County, CA, Sara Stout of San Francisco, CA, Laurel Stout of Mill Valley, CA, Andrew Stout of Sacramento, CA, Tyson Fisher of Brookings, South Dakota, and Taylin & Tevyn Fisher of Fortuna, CA. He was also blessed with great grandchildren, Jesse, Kristin & Seth Mangrum, Rayle Mangrum, Devri & Daria Jones, Ryleigh McCulley, Ryan & Reese Christiansen, Case Christiansen and one great great granddaughter, Jaden Mangrum. He is also survived by his brother, Bob Mangrum of Rancho Santa Fe, CA, and his sister, Cordiela Walsh of Eureka, CA. Cecil was well-known for his infectious smile and kind disposition. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening. A self-taught pianist and guitarist, Dad delighted family and friends with his playing and singing. His greatest pleasure was spending time with his family. He will be dearly remembered and forever missed as a dedicated and loving father and grandfather. The sunset of his life occurred at the Healdsburg Senior Living Community Center on Friday, November 29, 2006. Cecil was a born-again Christian and went to meet his Lord and Savior on that day. Friends are invited to attend services on Saturday, December 2, 2006, at 1:30 PM at the Church of the Nazarene, 1355 Ross Hill Road, Fortuna, CA, immediately following committal services will be held at Oceanview Cemetery, Eureka, CA. Rev. Bill Mangrum and Lance Anderson will be officiating. Pall bearers will be Kenny Mangrum, Mickey Mangrum, Rhett Christiansen, Andrew Stout and Tyson Fisher. The family would like to give many thanks to Dr. Baird, Dr. Irvine, all the nurses and caregivers and the staff at the Cutten Care Home, for their care the past two years.
