Mariani, Pauline

Paula Mariani passed away November 24, 2006 in Bakersfield, 
California. She will be remembered for her kindness and love, but 
most of all for her dedication to the happiness and well-being of her 
family. She was born in Broken Bow, Oklahoma on April 8, 1925, to 
Clifford and Bessie Smith, the fifth of seven siblings. She moved to 
Los Banos, California, in 1943, where she worked as a waitress and 
met the love of her life, Louis Mariani. They shared many adventures 
together, including their move to the Alaskan wilderness so Lou could 
pursue his love of hunting and fishing. As the family grew, Paula 
decided she had had enough of the "adventure". They relocated to 
Delano, California where they ran a successful family business. They 
were married for forty years until Lou passed away in 1988. Her 
continued optimism while enduring years of disability will remain an 
inspiration to her family forever. Though she dealt with more than 
her share of hardship and adversity, she always put others first. She 
is survived by her son Frank Mariani, daughter Donna Barry and 
husband Bob, son Ron Mariani and wife Lori, and grandchildren 
Michelle, Michael, Matthew and Gregory Mariani, and great-grandson 
Andrew Mariani. A memorial mass will be held to honor Paula's life on 
Tuesday, November 28th, 2006, twelve PM, at Saint Francis Church, 900 
H Street. Burial services will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park on
