All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::?--Albuquerque OK McCurtain County Local Newspaper: June 14, 1925 JIM MERRITT WAS KILLED AT DE QUEEN MONDAY NIGHT WHEN A CAR OVERTURNED -- BODY WAS SHIPPED TO NEW MEXICO. Monday night about 12:00, one mile east of De Queen, Ark., Jim Merritt, of this city, was killed in a car wreck on the highway. There were two other parties in the car with him, both of whom sustained painful but not serious injury. All the parties were taken to the De Queen Hospital for emergency treatment, but Merritt died in a few moments after arriving at the hospital. Mr. Merritt was about 60 years old, and was the father of Jack Merritt, also of this city. For some time the deceased had been residing at Albuquerque, New Mexico, returning to Broken Bow about four or five months ago.
