All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Forest Hill Cemetery--Garvin OK Obituary: George Monk Newspaper: McCurtain Gazette, Idabel, Oklahoma dated: Tues: 12-5-1989 GEORGE MONK George Monk, 73, a life-long resident of McCurtain County, died Sunday, (12-3-1989) in McCuistion Regional Medical Center in Paris, Texas. Monk, born July 12, 1916, to Franklin and Myrtie "Glover" Monk near Valliant, spent all his life in the community except for the time he was in the armed forces during World War II. Married to Betty Porter, Sept. 14, 1946, Monk was a farmer and rancher. Funeral services are set Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Forest Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Troy Ruffin officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Surviviors include his wife, Betty of the home and two sons and daughters-in-law Lynn and Cheryl Monk and Jackie and Polly Monk of Garvin. Three grandchildren survive. They are Tina Monk, J. J. Monk and Trina Monk all of Garvin.
