All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Wheelock Cemetery--Millerton OK Obituary: Raymond Mooney Dated: Wednesday July 9, 1947 Newspaper: McCurtain Gazette Idabel, Oklahoma p.1 col. 5 = MOUNT ZION MAN DIED TUESDAY OF SHOT WOUND = Raymond Mooney, 43, Mount Zion, died t 11 a.m. Tuesday at his home of a self-inflicted wound, County Attorney Ed Shipp reported this morning. Mooney, long in ill health, had been confined to his bed for some time. Shipp said that he shot himself in the forehead with a .22 rifle at his home Monday afternoon, living almost 24 hours after the shot. Born in Ladonia, Tex., February 5, 1904, he had resided in the community 15 years, moving from Texas. He was member of the Baptist church and a farmer. Funeral services were set for 3 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Wheelock cemetery under direction of Coffey funeral home. Bearers were Olen Taylor, James Taylor, H. C. Tutt, Ivan Nunley, Homer Baker, and J. E. Davis He is survived by his widow, and the following sons and daughters, all of the home address, Ray, Jr., Joice, Sue, Garland, Shirley and Clark; two sisters, Mrs. G. W. Williams, Broken Bow, and Mrs. A.E. Bastible, Garvin; six brothers, G. W. Mooney, Kerrville, Texas;Troy, Earl and Austin Mooney all of Garvin; Harrison Mooney, Idabel, and Tilford Mooney, Oklahoma City, and his mother, Mrs. J. S.
