Nell was born September 1, 1923, in Wright City, Oklahoma. She was a resident of Humboldt County for 55 years. Nell’s greatest love in life was her family, but her door was always open. Her house was a second home for many of the neighborhood children and there was always an extra plate at the table. Many who shared in her life knew her as "Mom". Even to this day, those whose life she touched will remember her as a loving, caring person. She also enjoyed watching her flowers grow, her trips to Reno, and going to yard sales with her family. Nell’s dream in life was to return to her birthplace. In 2004, she realized her dream, to find that time stood still. Everything was the same as when she left. She was asked by the Mayor of Wright City to be the Grand Marshall of their 100-year celebration in 2010. Her family will attend this celebration in her honor. Nell is survived by her husband of 62 years, William E Roth; their children and families, William Jack Roth of McKinleyville, Judy and Rich Ingraham of Rio Dell, Jim and Sandy Roth of Albany, OR, Linda Lynes of Eureka, Larry and Patti Roth of Eureka, Tony and Shirley Roth of McKinleyville, Ramona Cooke and partner Jeff Meisner of Trinidad, Cathy Roth of Sparks, NY, and Bob Cooke of Anderson; sister and best friend, Grace Cates and family; brother, Alvin and Marion Baker and family; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and other family members too numerous to mention. She was preceded in death by son, Ron Roth; parents, Alda and Cecil Baker; siblings, Doris Knight, Virginia Paul, Elsie Dotson, and Aud Baker; brother-in-law, Bob Cates; daughter-in-law, Rosemary Roth; and son-in-law, Chris Lynes. A Graveside Service will be held at St. Bernard’s Cemetery, 3975 Broadway, Eureka, on Monday April 9, 2007, at 12:00 p.m. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Jennifer Heidmann and Hospice of Humboldt. The family requests that donations in lieu of flowers be made to Hospice of Humboldt. Arrangements are under the care of Paul’s Chapel, 1070 H Street, Arcata, California.
