Phillips Newspaper: McCurtain Gazette, Idabel, McCurtain Co., Oklahoma Dated: June 1, 1933 = Y. A. Phillips Succumbs of Pneumonia Tuesday = Y. A. 'Buck' Phillips, one of the best known young teachers of McCurtain county, who has been teaching for several years at Denison School east of Idabel, died Tuesday morning at Durant after a short illness. The news of his death came as a shock to his many friends in McCurtain county. Funeral services were held Wednesday at the First Methodist church in Valliant, Rev. Holcomb, pastor of the Baptist Church of Idabel and Rev. J. G. Garrison, pastor of the Methodist church of Valliant, officiating. Burial followed in the Valliant Cemetery under the auspices of the Masonic Lodge of Idabel. Mr. Phillips is survived by his wife, two children, mother, and several brothers and sisters. Mack, R.
