Scarborough, 75 years old, passed quietly away at his home near the high school building Thursday evening of last week at about eight o'clock. Mr. Scarborough had been sick for several days but his condition was not considered serious until a short time before the end came. His sudden death was a great shock to the family and friends. Mr. Scarborough was born at Warren, Arkansas, May 28th, 1853. After he had reached the years of maturity he was married to Miss Sarah Jane Ruffin. To this union, eight children were born, only two of which are now living, H.C. Scarborough, of Broken Bow, and R.O. Scarborough, of Wright City. Funeral services were held at the First Christian church Friday afternoon at 3:30 by the local pastor, the Rev. M.L. Dickey. Interment was made in the Baptist cemetery, beside his wife who proceeded him in death several years ago. The News joins their many friends in extending sympathy to the bereaved family. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to McCurtain Archives http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/mccurtain/mccurtai.htm
