Eulah Smith was born and reared in McCurtain county and had grown to young womanhood in this city. She attended the public schools here and was loved by all who knew her, both young and old. Her death leaves many sad hearts but her sweet character and lovable disposition will always be remembered and cherished. The esteem and love for both her and her family were manifested by the host of friends who gathered to console the bereaved family, and the many beautiful flowers that were emblems of sweet memories and living love. Old time neighbors of years gone by, far and near, friends from all over the county came to offer their sympathy and to clasp their hands in understanding friendship. Eulah Smith was born at Glover in this county, February 10, 1910, and passed away at the age of 23. She was reared at Hochatown and Broken Bow, where she graduated from the Broken Bow high school in 1929, later finish- ing a business course in Oklahoma City. Since that time she had held responsible positions both here and in Idabel and until about two months before her death was employed in the post office here. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church of Broken Bow, Rev. Holcomb of Idabel officiating. Interment was immediately afterward in the Crown Hill cemetery. Those left to mourn her passing are a son, Bittie Jean; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. General Smith; five brothers, Clifford of Owasso, Okla., Allie of Monroe, La., and Noah, Ira and Ora of Broken Bow; a grandfather, Mr. English Baker of Mena, Ark., and a number of other relatives and friends. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to McCurtain Archives http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/mccurtain/mccurtai.htm
