All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Pleasant Hill Cemetery--Hatfield AR Obit for James Oscar Smith James Oscar Smith Funeral service for James Oscar Smith, age 83, of Star Route, Hatfield, was held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock in the Church of Christ at Zafra, Okla., with Bro. Riley Donica officiating. Interment was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Hatfield under the direction of the Geyer-Quillin Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Bill Duke, Raymond Owens, Quinton Owens, Preston Self, Pete Cunningham and Dwight Evans. Mr. Smith was born Aug. 12, 1887, at Athens, Ark., and died July 27, at Mena. He lived at Athens until 1907, then he moved to Antlers, Okla., where he lived until 1926. In 1926 he moved to Beachton, Okla. where he spent the remainder of his life. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church. Mr. Smith married Lizzie Young on Dec. 31, 1917, who survives him. Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Homer Smith and Jack Smith, both of Beachton, Okla and Lawrence Smith of Gallup, N. Mex; five daughters, Mrs. Tima Smith, Star City, Ark., Mrs. Lillie Ahern, Sierra Vista, Ariz., Mrs. Minnie Johnson, Mena, Mrs. Mary C. Urbanek, Powder Springs, Ore., and Mrs. Martha Musgrove, Dallas, Texas; 23 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
