All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Valliant City Cemetery--Valliant OK McCurtain County Local Newspaper: Aug. 20, 1925 CAR OVERTURNS, KILLS WILLIS TAYLOR Willis Taylor was instantly killed Tuesday afternoon about 5:30 when the car he, Lester Merritt, and Ben Hellum, of Fort Towson, and Mr. Williams, of Swink, were driving, overturned in the Hellum pasture four miles south of Swink. Lester Merritt was seriously injured also, and was carried to Hugo immediately. Mr. Taylor was pinned beneath the car and was choked to death by the runningboard, which fell across his neck. Mr. Taylor has been living in and around Valliant for a number of years and has many friends who regret to learn of his death. He leaves his mother and two sisters, Mrs. Bud Felker and Mrs. Bruce Still, to mourn his loss.
