All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Crown Hill Cemetery--Broken Bow OK McCurtain County Local Newspaper: Nov. 12, 1924 - Sept. 21, 1996 VIOLA THORNTON THOMASON Viola Thornton Thomason, aged 71, resident of Broken Bow, Okla., died Saturday, Sept. 21, 1996. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25 in the First United Methodist Church of Broken Bow with Rev. Ron Weathers and Rev. Oscar Wilkie officiating. Burial followed in Crown Hill Cemetery under the direction of Brumley-McCurtain Funeral Home of Broken Bow. She was born Nov. 12, 1924 at Lockesburg, Ark; was a graduate of Lockesburg High School and Henderson State College at Arkadelphia; a retired school teacher; a member of the First Methodist Church of Broken Bow where she was an active member in the U.M.W. and U.M.W.M. Choir; a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Education Sorority, and Oklahoma Retired Educators Association; a charter member of the Board of Directors of the House of Hope; and was currently serving as president of McCurtain County Retired Educators Association. She is survived by her husband, Art Thompson of Broken Bow, Okla.; a son, Jerry L. Montgomery of Selfridge Air Force Base, Michigan; a brother, Alton Thornton of Lockesburg; two sisters, Jean Killian of De Queen and Mildred Bismark of Hatton; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
