THORNTON DIED SUNDAY ________ P. Thornton, who was about 70 years of age and came from Texas several years ago, died at his room in the Rouleau Hotel in this city Sunday morning. Mr. Thornton had long been a sufferer from asthma, from which trouble death resulted. He had been employed at the Rouleau for about two years and was popular with the traveling public. Before coming to Oklahoma, Mr. Thornton lived in Mt. Pleasant, Tex. He was a fine old man, retiring in disposition and ever thoughtful of the comfort of the guests stopping at the hotel and of others with whom he came in contact. Before becoming attached to the Rouleau clerical force Mr. Thornton was connected with the old Robinson Hotel on North Central Avenue. This building was abandoned several years ago as a hotel. At other times during his life in Idabel he worked for Stevens-Lambeth Co., and also at the Grand Leader, for Mose Fine. A daughter of deceased, together with Mr. Russell and Mr. Carson, all of Mt. Pleasant, were here Sunday and accompanied the body of Mr. Thornton back to Texas, Monday where he was buried. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to McCurtain Archives http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/mccurtain/mccurtai.htm
