All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Ft Bayard Natioal Cemetery--Ft Bayard NM Silver City Press April 7, 2002 WALLACE: J E Wallace, 76, of Silver City passed away Friday, March 22, in Gila Regional Medical Center. The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. today at Bright Funeral Home. Graveside funeral services with full military honors by American Legion Post No. 18 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3347 will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Fort Bayard National Cemetery, with Pastor Phil Pittman and Mr. Stanley Chitwood officiating. Mr. Wallace was born May 13, 1925, in Wright City, Okla. He was the son of Ed Wallace and Mattie Marie Casey Wallace. He married Helen Cobb on Nov. 21, 1944, in Shawnee, Okla. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Helen; two daughters, Patricia Hudson and her husband, Mike, and Wanda Taylor and her husband, George, all of Silver City; four grandchildren, Terrie Cox and her husband, Jason, of Hurley, Carrie Jo Smith and her husband, Jeff, of Las Cruces, Suzanne Taylor of Las Cruces and Marvin Lee Taylor of Silver City; six great-granddaughters; two sisters, Lottie Bergeron of Athal, Mass., and Imogene Fisher and her husband, Bill, of Long Meadow, Mass.; and numerous other rela-tives. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, R L Wallace and B J Wallace; one grandson, Daniel Lee Fincher; and one brother-in-law, Arnold Berg-eron. Mr. Wallace served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired as a loco-motive engineer from Phelps Dodge. Pall-bearers for Mr. Wallace will be Marvin Taylor, Jeff Smith, Mike Hudson, Jason Cox, George Taylor and Mike Hilton.
