C.B. WALLS BURIED AT ROXTON. The sudden death of Dr. C.B. Walls last Sunday at his old home in Roxton, Texas, came as a distinct shock to his family and friends in Idabel. His death resulted from drinking carbolic acid. Dr. Walls, in company with Van Morgan of this city, left Idabel Sunday morning, going to Hugo, where, we understand, members of the family from the little Texas town met them. Soon after reaching Roxton, it is said, he drank a quantity of the deadly drug and died about 8:00 that night. Charles Byron Walls, was the son of C.H. and Mrs. Corilla Walls, and a brother of Dr. William Clarence Walls of Cooper, Texas. He was born May 29, 1895 and died May 18, 1924. He was married to Miss Bennie Bruton on January 25th, 1920. He had lived in Idabel for five years and was a member of the Christian church here and in Texas for 15 years. The funeral and burial at Roxton was largely attended, several going from Idabel. The pallbearers were: Maj. Wright Morris, Dr. A.L. Jones, Brooks Wright, Roxton; Dr. Eugene Baylis, Sam Meredith and Steve Burris, of Idabel. Honorary pallbearers: Les Misso, Arthur Maxwell, Roxton; Frank Lamb, F.S. McKay, Bernie Herstein, Ira Rone, Hose Perkins and Wade Stevens, of Idabel. The store of Stevens-Lambeth Co. was closed all day Monday. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to McCurtain County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/mccurtain/mccurtai.htm
