W.R. WHITTEN DIED IN HER HOME IN IDABEL FRIDAY MORNING ABOUT 5:00. Mrs. Willis R. Whitten, of Idabel, died Friday morning about 5:00, her death occurring 2 hours after she had given birth to a baby girl. Mrs. Whitten was before her marriage, Miss Stella Williams, and had been reared in Idabel. She was a good Christian lady and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her husband and three children, Ruby, aged 9 years, W.R. Jr., aged 5 years, and infant daughter; two sisters, Mrs. J.M. LaRue, Broken Bow, and Miss Mary Williams, Idabel; and one brother, Joe G. Williams, Broken Bow. Mrs. LaRue and Mr. Williams, who were in Kansas at the time of Mrs. Whitten's death, were unable to reach Idabel in time for the funeral. Funeral services were conducted at the family home Friday afternoon at 5:00 by Rev. D.A. McReynolds, paster of the First Baptist Church at Idabel, in the presence of a large concourse of friends and relatives. Interment followed at the Denison Cemetery. The floral offerings were numerous and beautiful, showing the high esteem in which Mrs. Whitten was held by her friends. The News joins the many friends of the family in extending sympathy in this sad hour. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to McCurtain Archives http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/mccurtain/mccurtai.htm
