Williamson Newspaper: McCurtain Gazette Idabel, McCurtain Co., Oklahoma p. 1 col.5 Dated: Wednesday March 4, 1942 W.J. WILLIAMSON DIES AT GARVIN Was Pioneer Resident of McCurtain County GARVIN=March 4= W.J. (William Jackson) Williamson pioneer resident of McCurtain County passed away early Sunday (March 1, 1942) at his home here and funeral rites were conducted at the Forest Hill Baptist church Tuesday at 3 p.m. by Rev. W. R. Merry, Baptist minister. Burial was made in the Forest Hill cemetery under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home, Idabel. Pallbearers were Otto Barrett, Dave Hess Jr., Robert Ives, Fred Rogers, Grover Jordan and Luther Jones. Williamson was born on December 18, 1869 at Tifton, Georgia., and had been a resident of Oklahoma 40 years. He was a member of the Methodist church. Survivors are two daughters Mrs. Bonnie (Myrtle) Bell, Vinita and Mrs. Raymond (Blanche) Snow, Hugo; four sons, Montie, Palo Alto, Calif.; Ben, Albuquerque, N.M.; Henry, Alexandra, La., and Herman, Garvin; one brother E. T. Williamson, Garvin; two sisters, Mrs. Jordan McLeod, Garvin and Mrs. Julia Birdsong, Jacksonville, Texas and six grandchildren. Note: His wife, Alertia Williamson, was inadvertently left off his list of survivors. She was alive at this point and living in his household. other: Marriage Record: December 18, 1894 W. J. Williamson & Miss Alertia May Stone were united in marriage by R. H. Quinton, Kaufman Co., Texas.
