WOOTEN WAS BURIED HERE _________ DIED AT OKLAHOMA CITY, SATURDAY FOLLOWING SHORT ILLNESS; FORMERLY RESIDED IN BROKEN BOW. John W. Wooten, aged 67 years, died in St. Anthony Hospital at Oklahoma City, Saturday, May 23, following a short illness of pneumonia. The remains were shipped to Broken Bow Monday by the Watts & McAttee Under- taking Company, of Oklahoma City. Funeral services were conducted at the First Baptist Church in this city at 2:00 o'clock Monday afternoon by Rev. A.R. Luton, pastor of the First Methodist Church. Burial was made in Broken Bow cemetery beside his wife who preceded him in death several years ago. Mr. Wooten will be remembered by many citizens of Broken Bow as he was a resident of this city from 1912 to 1922. He was a splendid citizen and a good Christian man. He was a faithful and loyal member of the Baptist Church, also a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. He is survived by one son and three daughters, Harve Wooten, of Pine Valley; Mrs. Ester French, of Monroe, Okla.; Mrs. Mary and Mrs. Emma Bales, of Cove, Arkansas. Immediate members of the family attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Harve Wooten and family, of Pine Valley; Mr. and Mrs. Roy French, of Monroe; Mr. and Mrs. John Bales and family, and Mr. and Mrs. George Bales and family of Cove, Arkansas. The News joins the relatives and friends of the grief stricken family in their bereavement.
