WOOTEN DIED TUESDAY P.M. AT THE HOME OF HIS PARENTS IN IDABEL; HAD BEEN ILL SEVERAL MONTHS WITH TUBERCULOSIS. Orville E. Wooten, 28 years old, died last Tuesday night about 10:00 at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. F.A. Wooten in Idabel, after an illness extending over several months. Two years ago he went from Broken Bow to Phoenix, Arizona, in the hopes of regaining his health, but continued to grow worse, and was brought home about ten days ago, being accompanied by his wife and baby, and brother, Frank Wooten, of Idabel. The funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 at the family residence in Idabel, by Dr. S. Addison McElroy, pastor of the First Presbyterian church. Burial followed in the Denison cemetery there. The funeral was largely attended, and the floral offerings were numerous and beautiful. Orville Wooten was familiarly known by his friends as "Babe". While living in Broken Bow he was in charge of the Wooten grocery, and made many friends. He was also very popular at Idabel, where he had made his home for the last eleven years. He is survived by his wife and baby, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. F.A. Wooten, and four brothers, as follows: Frank Wooten, Hubert Wooten, Charlie Wooten and G.N. Wooten, all of whom were present at the funeral. The News joins the many friends of the family in extending sympathy in their hour of sorrow. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to McCurtain Archives http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/mccurtain/mccurtai.htm
