BUCHANON WARNER - Edward R. Buchanon, 70, of Checotah died Thursday morning at his home. Services were held Saturday, Oct. 1 at 2 p.m. in Warner First Baptist Church with the Reverend Calvin Easley officiating. Burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery with Bledsoe Funeral home of Cecotah in charge. Pallbearers included Gary Hill, Rckie Hill, Travis Hill, Elvis Pool, Bill Isaacs and Lawrence Selby. Born March 22, 1913, In Kiowa, Kan., Buchanon was a retired iron worker. During World War II he served as Army construction foreman in Africa and Italy and supervised 56 men in building railroad bridges. He received a special citation for building a bridge over Arno River in italy. Buchanon was married to Edith Hill in Norman on July 19, 1940. He moved to Checotah after the war and was a deacon and former Sunday School superintendent at Warner First Baptist Church. His father and a brother died earlier. BUCHANAN RITES ARE SATURDAY Funeral services for Ben F. Buchanan, 49, of Enid, who died Wednesday at Albuquerque, N.M., will be 10 a.m. Saturday in the Henninger-Allen Funeral Homes Chapel. Rev. Floyd Strater will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Buchanan, a vice president of an Enid insurance company and a former assistant attorney for Garfield County, was on a business trip to Albuquerque at the time of his death. A native of Kiowa, Kan., he came to Enid in 1948. He was graduated from Oklahoma City University and practiced law six years before joing the Mid-Western Life Insurance Co. in 1958. He was vice-president in charge of credit life insurance and mortgage loans. He served in the Air Force in World War II and was a member of the Davis Park Christian Church and a Mason. Survivors include the widow, of the home, 505 S. Hoover; his mother, Mrs. Alta Buchanan, Checotah; one son, Gary of the home; and a brother, Edward Buchanan, Checotah. She was first deputy at the County Assessor's office, later becoming Garfield County Assessor for two years before retirement. On Sept 7, 1946, she married Ben Buchanan. He died Aug. 18, 1964. She was a member of Davis Park Christian Church and Garfield County Republican Women's League. Surviving are one son, Gary of Tulsa; two sister, Mamie J. VanderMolen and Irene J.
