He moved to Bakersfield in the late 30s and graduated from Kern Union High School Class of 1940. He served for 3 years in WW II, in the Navy. While on R&R in Brisbane, Australia, he met his future wife, Jean. They married in Australia and Jean later came to Bakersfield as a war bride. Harold worked as the head cook for 30 years at Kern Medical Center. For more than 50 years he resided in the Westchester area. Harold was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He also loved watching football games on TV! Harold was preceded in death by his lovely wife of 51 years, Jean. Also his sister, Lena Haggard. He is survived by his daughters, Dianne Newberry and Carol Grumbles and son-in-law, Gary, his son Howard Booth and daughter-in-law, Sharlene. His grandchildren, David, Brad, Sean, Scott, Jessica and Sara. His brother, Dean and his wife Jan. He is also survived by his close friend, Caryl Stiener. Services will be held Tues., Dec. 23, 2003, at 1:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 2530 Drake St., Bakersfield.
