Vita Gilbert

Vita Gilbert, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, March 10, 1998.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Checotah Cemetery in 
Checotah, Okla. Local arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home Inc., 4100 
S. Georgia St. Arrangements in Oklahoma are by Merritt Funeral Service in 
Eufaula, Okla.

Mrs. Gilbert was born in Dierks, Ark. She lived in Bell, Calif., for 36 
years before moving to Amarillo eight years ago.

She worked for Ball Drug Co. in California. She was Methodist.

Mrs. Gilbert was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Gilbert, in 1947; 
and by a son, Dalton Gilbert, in 1995.

Survivors include two daughters, Billie Jean Keith of Amarillo and Marilyn 
Cogburn of Broken Bow, Okla.; a son, James W. Gilbert of Tuskahoma, Okla.; 
two sisters, Nell Lord Strasner of Kittery, Maine, and Hope Jessup of 
Conway, Ark.; a brother, Douglas Townsend of Lake Isabell, Calif.; 10 
grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two greatgreat-grandchildren.
