Norwood 1913 - 2005 Charley stepped into the presence of his Lord on February 10, 2005 following a brief illness. He was born one of ten children to George and Mazie Norwood of Checotah, OK. Charley and wife, Dollie Ruie, moved to Lamont, CA in 1946, where for many years he was employed in Kern oilfields, with a few years late in his working life, spent as a custodian for the Greenfield School District, where he retired in 1979. For the past 5 years Charley has been a resident of the Greens in Seven Oaks. Charley loved God, his family, his Boston Terrier, Bubba and gardening, where he was known as The King of tomato growers. Charley was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Dollie Ruie. He is survived by his daughter, Shirley of Bakersfield; son, Roger and daughter-in-law, Florence Norwood of Bakersfield; granddaughter, Casey Martinez and her husband, Richard of Bakersfield and special great- grandson, Caleb. He is further survived by three sisters, Thelma Schardt and Helen Duncan, both of Checotah, OK, Joyce Browning of Sacramento, CA and brother, Willard Norwood of Richland, WA. Daddy, we are so sad for us, but glad for you. We will see you one day and thats a promise. In the meantime, be sure and give our love to momma and to Jesus in person.
