Graveside services were held 10 a.m. Saturday, December 2, 2006 at Greenlawn Cemetery, Checotah, Oklahoma with the minister, Charlie Bailey, officiating. Services were under the direction of Hunn, Black & Merritt Funeral Home. Don was born October 4, 1930, in Ada, Oklahoma, the son of Isom Slaughter and Lourina (Creekmore) Neal. Don attended school at Shady Grove, Soda Springs and Artussee, Oklahoma. On April 12, 1958, he married Joyce Elaine Muck. He owned and operated Neal's Starter & Alternator Shop and was a distributor of Bowes Auto Parts. On April 12, 1948, Don joined the U.S. Army and served his country in the Panama Canal Zone until March 13, 1954. Don is survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Kathe Neal and Ross and Wanda Neal of Eufaula, OK; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Pauline and Glynn Alexander of Jay, OK, and Anna Sue and Richard Hampton of Eufaula, OK; sister, Betty Lou Curran of Checotah, OK; a host of nieces and nephews and special friends, Kermit and Buddy. Don was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Joyce, June 6, 2006.
