Robert L. Owens, long time Midwest City resident, passed away Monday, January 27, 2003. He was born March 10, 1913 in Hanna, Oklahoma to Ben Owens and Fannie 'Moore' Owens. He lived in Hanna the first fourteen years of his life attending school through the 9th grade but moved with his family in 1927 to Carnegie, Oklahoma where he completed high school. He played football and was active in many sports. He was also a long time member of the First Baptist Church in Midwest City where he had served as Deacon and Sunday School teacher. He retired as a civilian employee from Tinker Air Force Base in 1980. On January 27, 1934, he married Evelyn Grubb. They spent 67 wonderful years together until Evelyn passed away in October 2001. After being separated for 15 months God chose to reunite them for a heavenly anniversary celebration the very day they would have celebrated their 69th Anniversary. He is survived by one daughter Ruth and her husband Jim Boydston of Del City; one granddaughter Christy and her husband Bill Switzer of Oklahoma City; one brother Troy Owens and his wife Dodie of Bayonet Point, Florida; and two nieces Lisa Owens and Terri Stephens. He was preceded in death by his parents Ben and Fannie Owens; his wife Evelyn; brothers Albert and Byrd; and sisters Robbie and Julie. Survivors also include a host of other loving family members and friends. Services will be held at Bill Eisenhour Southeast at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, January 31, 2003 with interment following at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 8701 N.W. Expressway, Oklahoma City, OK.
