All rights reserved. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/copyright.htm ========================================================================== ::Smith & Kernke FH--OKC OK Rollins, Larry James Larry James Rollins, 63, after fighting the good fight with ALS, peacefully went to be with his Lord on May 29, 2003 at his home surrounded by family and friends. Larry was born on August 13, 1939, to Virgil and Irene (Butler) Rollins in Lawton, Oklahoma. He spent his school years in Lawton and Oklahoma City. He joined the Navy at age 17 and served his country proudly for 8 years. Larry spent his working years at Xerox and AT&T/Lucent as a boiler mechanic. He met the love of his life, Margaret Downey and they married in 1966. Larry always said that meeting Margaret is what turned his life around. Larry and Margaret have 2 daughters, Carrie and Julie. Larry and his daughters shared a special relationship that words cannot express. Larry and Margaret retired to Lake Eufaula in 1997. They enjoyed two wonderful years there and were blessed with the friendship of Melody and Greg Poole. They moved back to Oklahoma City in 1999 to be closer to family. Dad will always be remembered for these things: tank tops, shirts with pockets, wearing bandanas while mowing, having a Bud on a hot day and especially his love for his family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Margaret; daughter and son-in-law, Carrie and Greg Skaggs; 2 granddaughters, Kalyn and Abbie; daughter, Julie and her very good friend Kim Smith; mother, Irene; sister, Ernestine Hightower; one niece; 3 nephews, and many wonderful friends. The family would like to thank Val Ross of Vistacare Hospice and Debbie Little for their wonderful loving care of Dad. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, June 2nd at 11:00 a.m. at Cherokee Hills Baptist Church, 5700 NW 63rd, Oklahoma City. SMITH & KERNKE 1401 NW 23rd ST.
