He was born on May 17, 1934 the son of Eastman and Marie (Rowe) Richards Jr. On September 27, 1966 in Checotah, Little Beaver married his sweetheart Shirley Ruth Smith. He had retired from the City of Checotah where he had read water meters for fifteen years. Wesley was a founding member of the Creek Nation Indian Community, and was a member of the “Liars Club” in the local café's. Fondly known as “Beaver”, he never met a stranger. He was truthful and generous to a fault. He was genuine, with no pretense. He enjoyed the simple pleasures, good food and the love of his family. His pride was his children and granddaughters, no father or grandfather has ever been more proud of “his babies”. Beaver's love, friendship, loyalty and humor were his greatest gifts and that is what will be missed the most by those who knew and loved him most, but in the end we believe Beaver wants to be remembered as a Christian. After all these years and many prayers Beaver became a child of God before he left this world. He boldly welcomed Christ into his heart and the Lord granted him salvation, acceptance, peace, comfort and rest. We know he waits for us with other loved family members in the house of the Lord. Preceding him in death were his parents and two sisters Shirley Fitzgerald and Peggy Woodard. Survivors include wife Shirley of the home; son Michael and wife Sheila of Muskogee; daughter Rhonda and husband Tooter Huie of Heavener; brothers Leon and Billy Richards, Ronnie and Bobby West, and Pete and Bo Woodard; sisters Mary Jo Stanley, Janelle Johnson, and Janice West; grandchildren Abby Tutcenen, Krista, Carrie and Elana; and special sister Esther Mae Holloway; and a host of other relatives and friends, Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a. m., Wednesday, September 6, 2006 in the Hillabee Indian Baptist Church with Rev. Richmond Carr officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery with Tim Frame, Bobby Frame, Tim Newton, Brad Fox, Phillip McIntosh and Bill McKee serving as casket bearers. There will be a Prayer Service at 7:00 p. m., Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at the Hampton Mortuary Memorial Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Hampton Mortuary, 211 W. Okmulgee, Checotah, OK 74426, 918/473-6821. ========================================================================== Return to McIntosh County Archives: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ok/mcintosh/mcintosh.html
