All rights reserved. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/copyright.htm ========================================================================== James Haskell Swearingen CLARENDON - James Haskell Swearingen, 73, died Thursday, Aug. 5, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Bryan Knowles, pastor of Martin Baptist Church, and the Rev. Rob Seale, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Citizens Cemetery by Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon. Mr. Swearingen was born in Hanna, Okla., and lived in Amarillo from 1945 until 1967 when he moved to Arlington. In 1975, he moved to Clarendon. Mr. Swearingen was an Army veteran of World War II. In 1991, he retired from Greenbelt Water Authority after 16 years of service. He married Doyce Myrne Barker in 1945 at Memphis. She died in 1995. Survivors include two daughters, Peggy Shults of Gruver and Penny McAnear of Clarendon; four sons, James H. Swearingen Jr. and Terry Lynn Swearingen, both of Amarillo, Bobby Swearingen of Clarendon and Kenny Swearingen of Fort Stockton; two sisters, Ruth Melton and Mary Alice Rich, both of Amarillo; a brother, Elbert Swearingen of Fort Worth; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, memorials be to the Northwest Texas Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit; the American Diabetes Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
