She was born July 17, 1907 in Van Buren, AR to William Thomas and Mary Bertha (Hampton) Bailey. The family moved to the Eufaula, OK area when she was a few months old and she attended School District #42 and Eufaula High School. She was baptized by the Deere's Chapel Baptist Church when she was about 10 years old and was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church in Muskogee from 1936 until her death. Addie married Louis J. Waddle in Eufaula in 1924 and the family moved to Muskogee in 1936, with short residences in McAlester and Eufaula during WWII. From her early teens, Addie was a highly accomplished seamstress for her family and clients, many of whom became life long friends. She was known for the many beautiful wedding gowns she created and the lovely quilts she made for her family which hold lasting memories for them. She moved to Oklahoma City in 1967 where she resided with her daughter, Frances Waddle, except for a four year residence in Lenexa, KS while Frances was employed at the American Nurses Association in Kansas City, MO. Between 1995-2000, she pieced more than 100 crib quilts a year for the Oklahoma City Quilters' Guild project for the Infant Crisis Center. She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening and generously shared plants with friends. She helped design flower gardens for three homes she and her daughter built in Oklahoma City. Addie attended The Village Baptist Church in Oklahoma City and appreciated the friends and teachers in her class. She was active in various activities at the Immanuel Baptist Church during the years she lived in Muskogee and her activities in the Women's Missionary Union were especially meaningful to her. Addie leaves a legacy of quiet determination, a gracious and loving spirit, gentle humor, and personal strength which inspires her family and others who were privileged to know her. She fulfilled her efforts to use well the many years God granted her. In 2000, when her health began declining, she moved to Eufaula Manor in Eufaula, OK. The family appreciates the excellent care and compassion extended by the Eufaula Manor staff during her stay there. Mrs. Waddle was preceded in death by her husband, Louis J. Waddle in 1960; her parents, three brothers, Dawson, Walter and Carl and two sisters, Nora Day and Dorothy Burdine. She survived by two daughters, Kathleen Boatright and her husband, Leo, of Eufaula, OK and, Frances Imogene Waddle of Oklahoma City; one sister, Orpha Duzan of Clovis, CA; one brother, J. M. Bailey and his wife, Betty, of Eufaula; one granddaughter, Judith Ann Boatright Maxwell and her husband, Joe, of Parker, CO; one grandson, Terry L. Boatright and his wife, Sherri, of Apple Valley, CA; four great grandsons; three great great granddaughters; two great great grandsons; four nephews, Melvin Bailey of CA, George Elliott of Broken Arrow, Ernest Day, Jr. and his wife, Francie, of Tulsa and William Duzan of TX and two nieces, Sally Day and Sharon Duzan both of CA. The family will visit with friends at Foster- Petering Funeral Home in Muskogee from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 29th. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 30th at Fosters' Ivory Chapel, 904 W. Okmulgee, Muskogee with Rev. Tom Shelton officiating.
