She was born on September 29, 1927 in Ellsworth, KS, the daughter of Herman H. and Emma (Hildebrandt) Wacker. Ella married Lester Zelenka on March 18, 1950 in Ellsworth, KS, and they had left KS and moved to Warner several years ago. Ella had worked as a seamstress for White Stag Mfg., Checotah, where she had retired. She also did sewing for different ones in the community, making many brides maid dresses, hemming lots of skirts and pants, and just about any type of sewing needed. Ella enjoyed working in and growing her flowers, which everyone enjoyed driving by to see the beautiful variety she grew. She always grew a wonderful vegetable garden of which she shared with many. She always canned vegetables, and was well known at church dinners for her delicious pickles. She was a wonderful cook, and everyone loved her pies, cakes, cookies and many other dishes that she always made from “scratch”. Ella also enjoyed mowing her yard as you could tell as it was always well manicured. She was a very faithful member of First Assembly of God Church, Warner, where she really enjoyed going and worshiping the Lord with her church family. She would walk that block to church faithfully and in all types of weather, and very seldom missed a service. Many are left with a void with the passing of Ella, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Those preceding her in death were her husband, Lester on April 20, 2000; her parents; four brothers, and three sisters. Her survivors include one sister Minnie Stroede of Ellsworth, KS; several nieces and nephews; and a host of church family and many friends. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p. m., Friday, October 13, 2006 in the First Assembly of God Church, Warner, with Rev. Clarence Guthrie and Pastor Dwayne Maynard officiating. Burial will follow in Warner Memorial Cemetery, next to her husband, with Robert Stroede, Gary Stroede, Eugene Cooper, Dale Wiggins, Jackie Hood and Mark McCrary serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers will be Gary McConnell, William Glass and Herman “Mac” McBride. The family requests donations be made to First Assembly of God, P. O. Box 620, Warner, OK 74469 or to the organization of your choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Hampton Mortuary, 211 W. Okmulgee, Checotah, OK 74426, 918/473-6821. ========================================================================== Return to McIntosh County Archives: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ok/mcintosh/mcintosh.html
